Pilot Custom K500SS 18K Fine Nib Stainless Steel Black Stripe. The nib on this is very smooth, I like it much more than most Pilot pens of this period. The ink flow is consistent and feedback barely noticeable.

The nib itself is in good condition, but there are surface scratches, which are more visible towards the section end of the nib. The connector and feed are in fine working order and have been thoroughly cleaned (see note below about connector).

The section has usual marks for a pen this age, nothing too bad but as the photos show some can be seen under light. The barrel, cap and clip are overall in good shape, but some surface scratches and small pits along the grooves. The pen comes with a new Chinese made converter and a new padded pen pouch with testing card shown in the photo. Even though the pen has been thoroughly cleaned before and after testing, it's always best to rinse through before use. However I do sometimes allow for pens to be dip tested as long as the feed and cartridge don't get ink up, please message me in advance.

The reason for using this converter is the connector is ever so slightly too small for the Pilot Con-40 converters. This seems to be quite a common problem, and the Chinese made converters fit much more snuggly. The cartridge connector can be replaced but I didn't have a spare. These pens were meant to take the earlier Con-20 model (Con-20s fit on pens with the same problem), but as the Con-40 came later it tends to slip off too easily when inked up. This may affect you if you want to change to a Con-40 cartridge, but otherwise the pen works great. The barrels on the old Custom K- series are too small for the Con-70(N), so the impact isn't huge.

The last photo is the white striped K500SS, all the custom models are the same length.
